This past week has been a whirlwind, but incredibly rewarding because I was doing what I love most – connecting and learning from our Ed-Fi community members. Below I’ve highlighted two of the big events in which I had the opportunity to participate.
Our Ed-Fi team and Mike Baur from the Data Driven Education team at the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation were in Rhode Island last week for the development and launch of the New England Ed-Fi Consortium – joined by a number of school system administrators, technologists, and teachers from Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York. We’re excited to welcome this passionate group of educators into the Ed-Fi Community, and we can’t wait to work alongside you and all of the partners on this initiative on behalf of all the learners you support! The excitement was evident not just in the room, but also virtually:
- @erinmote: Forever grateful to amazing educators from @CFSchoolsRI @pvdschools for being the grassroots push for the NE @edfialliance #teachersmatter
- @HighlanderInst: Today we launch Northeast Consortium for Ed-Fi! Adopting data standards is best way to free up time & improve workflow for PL teachers!
- @ShawnCRubin: “We are paying for not being interoperable through fees to vendors & time our staff wastes doing things multiple times” @CameronBerube
Additionally, the Ed-Fi team participated in CCSSO’s EIMAC (Education Information Management Advisory Consortium) meeting in Phoenix last week. Over two days, we covered a lot of ground, including: joining in the planning for ESSA and state needs; interoperability and data standards working sessions; alignment efforts we already have underway with CEDS on behalf of our community; an action group meeting on SEA data privacy and implementations; and many more discussions with our friends and partners from across the country about what’s in the works and what we can look forward to in the near future.
The amount of work this community is accomplishing is staggering! We are honored and proud to be a part of a community that values quality work benefiting the students, teachers, administrators and parents that we all collectively serve.
